Otisville

Otisville, Michigan is a relatively small town in the northeastern part of the state. The village was originally incorporated in 1852 as a lumbering town. The first settlers were the Stephen and Amos Biegel family, who owned 5000 acres of woodland in the township. Francis Otis bought the Biegels out in the late 1800s, and the town eventually became known as Otisville. This was followed by a name change in 1855, when the town reincorporated and was renamed Forest.

There are several notable features of the city, such as the fact that the population is spread out across a large geographical area. The city is also the hub of several stores and small businesses. Additionally, there are many retirees who make their home in the vicinity. Some of the more well-known companies that have locations in the community include the Chrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors. Visit Here.

Of course, the biggest draw is the proximity to the major cities of Flint, Michigan and Detroit, which make the region a hotbed of auto production. However, recent problems at GM have weighed on a slight resurgence in the past few years. In a nutshell, Otisville is a mid-sized industrial city that is supported by agribusiness, commuter residents from the aforementioned cities, and agriculture. As for what the city does best, the majority of its workforce is devoted to auto manufacturing. Interestingly, the city is located at the junction of two major highways, M-57 and M-15. It is also the nearest city to the town of Ypsilanti, which is only a ten minute drive away.

During the heyday of the mid-twentieth century, the city was one of the most successful in the state. In fact, it was second to only Detroit in terms of auto production. Although the city is now in a state of flux, it is still considered a top contender for its mid-sized size, and a large number of retirees call it home.

There are many features of the city to enjoy, from the top of the line healthcare center to the quaint stores lining the main street. However, the best way to see the city is to take a tour of its neighborhoods. If you have the time, try and visit the city in July, which is the month that is most pleasant to be in. Another good idea is to get a flu shot, which is recommended by the CDC for everyone six months and up.

The city has received accolades for its schools. For example, it is the home of the College Success Award, which is given to schools that show the greatest promise in getting students to college. Moreover, it is also the home of the country’s only orthopedic walk-in clinic, which allows patients to have an in-office consultation without having to travel. Lastly, it is home to several colleges and universities, including the Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. Continue reading about Otisville.
