Stockton Center at Spring Grove

A visit to the Stockton Center at Spring Grove will reward visitors with a unique experience. It is located in Spring Grove, 720 Ann Arbor St, Flint, MI 48503. The building is located in the City of Flint, Michigan and was the former location of the first St. Joseph’s Hospital in the city. It is a restored example of Victorian-era Italianate architecture.

The Stockton Center at Spring Grove is a non-profit organization that has a mission to promote research, education and preservation of the historic district in the city of Flint. As part of the organization’s mission, it hosts fundraisers, educational programs and tours that help to raise money to support its efforts. In addition to the main body of the Stockton Center, there are three floors of hospital wings with original flooring. This facility is also home to the Sandbox Virtual Reality Arcade, which transports visitors to the virtual world of their choice.

The most impressive part of the building is the museum. Not only are there historical artifacts and photos to be seen, there are also exhibits on the history of the city of Flint and the city’s most prominent citizen, Colonel Thomas Stockton. To top it off, there is a ghostly apparition that watches over the family’s ancestral home. If you’re lucky, you may hear a boot or two pass by.  Visit here near Flint.

The stockton family house was built in 1872 and is one of the grandest Victorian homes in the state. It is located on the edge of downtown Flint, on the crest of the Grand Traverse neighborhood. One of the most notable things about the house is its location: it sits atop a natural spring.

There are many other fun things to do in the area. One is the Flint Mural Project, which has a variety of attractions, including three murals on Corunna Road. Another is the Flint Trading Company, a reclaimed and upscale urban design business that features locally made products. Lastly, there are plenty of haunted experiences to be had in Avondale Cemetery, where restless spirits can be heard skulking about.

Other fun attractions include the Flint Tool & Die factory, the last remaining Chevrolet manufacturing plant in Flint, which is responsible for making the Chevrolet Volt. Also, the Flint Tool & Die is one of the few manufacturing facilities in the area that continues to do metal cutting. General Motors, the other major manufacturing firm in the area, invested $12 million in retooling the plant.

While the Stockton Center at Spring Grove is not exactly a city-wide tourism phenomenon, it is a popular venue for special events, such as the annual Flint Mural Plays. This event is a mix of community events, live performances and trolley tours. Unlike most such events, it is free.  More great places to visit.

You won’t find the latest iPhone on display, but the Flint Tool & Die has a full range of automotive parts and accessories, including a Chevrolet Volt assembly plant.
